New Pixel Structure Advances
The Canon 120MXS CMOS sensor shares floating diffusion capacitance between four pixels instead of one, allowing for smaller readout circuitry and larger photodiodes which reduces noise without sacrificing speed. Small 2.2µm pixels leverage a wire layer to prevent crosstalk, contributing to superior image quality, while progressive pixel reading of 28 digital output channels deftly handles the enormous amount of data from 122 million effective pixels.
